Sometimes the name was written "Beannchor", from the Irish word 'beann', a horn. According to Keating, a king of Leinster once had cattle killed there, the horns being scattered round, hence the name. The place was also called the "Vale of Angels", because, says Jocelin, St. Patrick once rested there and saw the valley filled with angels. The founder of the abbey was St. Comgall in 559 A.D.
Located in the vibrant and nostalgic Abbey Street, in the shadow of Bangor Abbey, HAUS is a bright and small space with glazed frontage offering views of the surrounding historic area Serving our signature breakfast items, small lunch menu and selection of fresh baked scones and traybakes, our style is relaxed, open and very friendly. Come for a coffee with the morning paper, a small plate for lunch or anything in between.
Just popped in for an impromptu lunch with my daughter. She had freshly made nachos (amazing!) and I had the chicken goujons which were gorgeous, although the highlight for me was the pineapple, ginger and tomato side salad!!! All in all, fab food, great value & lovely friendly service! We'll be back with other daughter (the nacho Queen!).
Ate here today really liked the food. Very nice wee space to go to.. Definitely recommend it.. Lovely ambience great music. We will be back. Cillian loved his skinny fries and the vegetarian wrap was very tasty. Cosy atmosphere · Convenient location · Relaxing atmosphere · Cheap eats · Great breakfast
Was stuck for lunch today as had to stay in the house, awaiting a delivery. Took a gamble on this place. Ordered a breakfast wrap and cheesy chip. Honestly brilliant! There aren't many decent day time eateries that deliver in Bangor, I've tried a few lol. Definitely a great option !
